Revelation 10:1-11: 14 prequel & Rev 10:1

The chapters of 10-11:14 are again a parenthetical passage.  Remember Parenthetical means;1. Set off within or as if within parentheses; qualifying or explanatory.  We are getting an explanation of things are happening along with the opening of the seals, but are not really the main event here.  Yet, the things that are mentioned in 10 - 11:14 need our attention.  It occurs between the 6 and 7th trumpet just as the first parenthetical passage was between the 6th and 7th seals.  (Rev 7: 1-17)  This gives us evidence of the order God has laid for us, it is Devine and must be viewed as such.

There are 4 parts to the passage:

1.  Rev 10, The Lord is preparing John for the sounding of the 7th Trumpet.  In addition, there are some moral principles that we need to grasp to better understand was is ahead for us in the sounding of the 7th trumpet.

2.  Rev 11:1-2;  Jerusalem captured by the Antichrist.

3.  Rev 11:3-12;  We get to meet the two witnesses who will oppose Antichrist

4.  Rev 11: 13-14The two witnesses ascend with the great earthquake.

All the passages are in the proper order and place of fulfillment.

Rev 10: 1I saw another strong angel coming down out of heaven, clothed with a cloud; and the rainbow was upon his head, and his face was like the sun, and his feet like pillars of fire;

Angels are powerful, we find through out the Bible that some are more powerful than others. (in authority not strength)  See Rev 18:1, 2 Thes 1:7 & Jude 9.   The angel being described here is non other than Christ himself.  Why is He there before us as an angel?  Well, remember we are still dealing with Israel, and they are still waiting for the Messiah.  Since they are not believers in the Holiness of Jesus Christ, he is ascending as an angel still with the marks of the crucified Nazarene until they "get it".
This description can be no other but Christ!

The cloud is a symbol of divine glory.

The rainbow about His head is the one we read about earlier, it was around the throne of God (Chapter 4).  This could be a symbol of the covenant made with Noah.

Face was like the sun.  Think back to Saul, he saw Christ and that description is the same.

The feet like pillars of fire has been mentioned in Chapter one.  We also saw it in Daniel's description in Chapter 7.

I will leave you here for now.  The little book in his had will take some more research!

Blessings on all till next time!
