7 Now when they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up from the Abyss will attack them, and overpower and kill them. 8 Their bodies will lie in the street of the great city, which is figuratively called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified. 9 For three and a half days men from every people, tribe, language and nation will gaze on their bodies and refuse them burial. 10 The inhabitants of the earth will gloat over them and will celebrate by sending each other gifts, because these two prophets had tormented those who live on the earth. 11 But after the three and a half days a breath of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet, and terror struck those who saw them. 12 Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, "Come up here." And they went up to heaven in a cloud, while their enemies looked on. 13 At that very hour there was a severe earthquake and a tenth of the city collapsed. Seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the survivors were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven. 14 The second woe has passed; the third woe is coming soon.
The Beast-In The Dakes bible it mentions the beast as being Jerusalem. This is because the Gentiles will have control of the city in the last three and a half years (see Verse 1-2). It will become the "headquarters" of sodomites (Isa 1:9-10 and Ez 16:46, 53) and "whoredoms" (sexual and religious perversions) (Ez 23:3, 8, 19, 27). See Mt 24:37-39; and Lk. 17:26-30 for the backing on Jerusalem becoming the predominant sin-o-rama! We will learn more about the beast in chapter 13.
The witnesses will preach and testify in the street and will be objects of hatred and hostility because of the current man in control will not tolerate worship that is not directed toward himself. So, he has them destroyed. It is mentioned that our Lord was crucified there as well. This lends to the wickedness of the persons there, the witnesses will suffer a horrible, painful death and the bodies will be left in the street for 3 1/2 days. In Jewish thinking, it is unthinkable and horrible for a body not to be buried, (Psalm 79:3 & 2 Kings 2:11).
Then in 3 1/2 days, an AWESOME thing happens, God breathes life back into the witnesses!! Glory be to God the Father! They get up and stand on their feet! Imagine the site, the people around just stood and watched....I would be on my knees praising God but not them, they just watched. Now, Elijah knows he can get from there to heaven easily, there is that chariot of fire seen in 2 Kings 2:11 that took him there before. This time God just said, "Com up here." and they did. The exact same words were spoken to John (4:1). This now concludes the first resurrection- The resurrection of all the righteous dead before the Millennium.
Now there was another earthquake, one that took a tenth of the city, and 7000 lives. NOW they start falling to their knees and giving Glory to God! Does this sound familiar? Christ died on a cross for our sins, after the death God showed his displeasure and many came to Christ.
Get ready for the third woe!!!
Blessings on all,

Revelation 11:3-6
3“And I will grant authority to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for twelve hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.” 4These are the two olive trees and the two lamp stands that stand before the Lord of the earth.5And if anyone wants to harm them, fire flows out of their mouth and devours their enemies; so if anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in this way.6They have the power to shut the sky, that no rain may fall during the days of their prophesying, and they have power over the waters to turn them into blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague, as often as they desire.
We a have read about messengers before, look at Malachi 3:1 where we read about Elijah. Elijah will be sent before the great Day of the Lord. In some versions it says great dreadful day. These two prophets will serve to prophesy and witness of 1260, sound familiar? This is the time period we just spoke of it measures 3 and 1/2 years. Remember, that period of time is a time of terror and of destruction.
Their clothing will be sackcloth, from this we can guess the message will be a dark and sober one.
Many scholars have had different ideas about the witnesses and who or what they are. the number two is of significance in that two is the number for testimony. John is the one having visions and we must remember that there is much symbolism being used and this may just be the case. We will not know for sure until that great and glorious day! Look in the Book of Zechariah 4:3. There is mention of two olive trees buy a bowl, one on the right and one on the left. This passage the trees are worship and prophetic testimony.
Again, we will not know.
Other ideas are:
Law and Prophets
Old and New Testament
Law and Gospel
Or the witnesses just may be a picture of the church... But how? look at Deuteronomy 19:15 where it tells us that if we bring charges against anyone, we must have two witnesses to confirm it
Enoch and Elijah: this one is popular for the reason that neither one of these persons is recorded as ever dying. (Genesis 5:24 and 2kings 2:11)
The most popular is that the witnesses are Elijah and Moses.
Elijah is thought to be the greatest prophet and Moses was the best in Law giving. What two better witnesses? Hey have hung out together before so this would be their second appearance. it Remember, it was those two who showed up on the Mt of
Transfiguration, and appeared to our Lord Jesus Christ. (Mark 9:4).
More evidence?
2 Kings 1:10. It says , "10And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty." In some older versions, it actually mentions fire proceeding out of their mouths and burns up their enemies.
Now look in 1 Kings 17:1 Elijah is prophesying to Ahab saying no rain! This sounds like our man!
Now, look at the next chapter and consider Moses and his history.
Exodus 7:14-18 Water into blood, and oh the plagues he loosed on Pharaoh! This sounds like our other man!
We already know that Elijah is suppose to return the bring in the end! (Malachi 3:1). Now remember in Deu 18:18 God promised to raise up a prophet like Moses...Who better than Moses himself...Through God ALL things are possible!!
Now I have gone on long enough on this one!
Blessings on all till next time

Daniel Issue
Dear friends,
It was brought to my attention that the source I sited, The Revelation of John by Wm Barclay, noted that the book of Daniel was written around 200 b.c. However, the chart has Daniel written at 600 b.c.
This is taken from Wikipedia, "Though traditionally the book was believed to have been written by the Daniel figure of the court tales, around the year 536 BCE, today the scholarly consensus is generally that it is a product of Maccabean times. Though many evangelical commentators still defend a sixth century date,[2] for mainstream scholarship the issue was settled over a century ago.[3] The common view is that the court tales represent a stratum of older, traditional stories, while the visions and final redaction of the work date to the second century BCE. The visions describe the national crisis that occurred under Antiochus IV Epiphanes, a Seleucid king who attempted to introduce Hellenistic religious practices, including the worship of idols, into the temple and the Jewish religion more generally, sparking outrage from Biblical authors."
This is a perfect example of why you shouldn't take every thing your told as "gospel" (pardon the pun)! Doing research, especially Biblical and political will enlighten you. You were "beautifully and wonderfully made" with a strong mind and a desire to search for the truth. Ask God to direct you, He gives me the direction and the Holy Spirit takes me the rest of the way there! I cannot imagine going through my life now without Him.
Turn over you life now! It's as easy as ABC...
A...Admit you need Him..(we ALL do)
B...Believe Christ died for YOU and your sins and that he has risen again! (Cause He did, there were witnesses!)
C...Confess HIM to be the Most important part of your live, Confess Him as your Lord ad Savior!
Ask the Holy Spirit to come into your life and guide you.
THAT'S IT!!
Blessing on all and thanks for spotting the inconsistency,

An explanation of time
There is a designation of three and a half years, which is the forty and two months written in Rev 11:2. twelve hundred and sixty days is the day equivalent, it is commonly refereed to as "a time, times and half a time."
This phrase actually has significance in Jewish history and not a pretty one, it was one of the most terrible times. Antiochus Epiphanes, king of Syria actually tired to force; the Greek language, the culture and what, whom and how the Greeks worshiped, upon the Jews. Those who resisted, faced the consequences, violent often deadly consequences. This continued until it was finally stopped by Judas Maccabaeus. Judas utilized guerrilla warfare tactics to drive Antiochus out of the Temple and it was then restored and cleansed.
The period of time above went from June 168 b.c. to December 165 b.c. This period is now celebrated by the Jews as the Festival of Hanukah commemorating the Temple. The period of time was three and a half years. In addition, it is note worthy to mention that the book of Daniel was written during this time.
This is a Bible timeline that I pulled off the Internet to display for your assistance. Many time lines are found in different formats and may be easier to read and understand. They are out there on the net, just "Bing, google, live...." whatever search you utilize, type in "bible timeline chart" and it will produce many. Notice when Daniel was written (in the 600 B.C. area) and then when Revelation. These two books have much in common, but that may be for a different blog.

Rev 11:1&2.
Rev 11: 1 -2I was given a stick for a measuring rod and told, "Get up and measure God's Temple and Altar and everyone worshiping in it. Exclude the outside court; don't measure it. It's been handed over to non-Jewish outsiders. They'll desecrate the Holy City for forty-two months.
The first 13 verses of chapter 11 are the rest of the parenthetical portion we mentioned prior.
Remember at this time John has "taken in" the little book so he knows what is going to happen. There are some portions of this chapter that are spoken of as if they occurred in the past. This may be credited to the certainty John has that all this will happen.
Verse 1- John is giving a stick utilized for a measuring rod. The word "rod" is a Jewish unit of measure equal to 6 cubits. A Cubit was a measure (originally) of the space from the tip of the elbow to the tip of the middle finger, approx. 17-18 inches. Which would mean the rod is approx. 9 feet.
We have seen measuring of Jerusalem earlier in the Bible, Zech 2 and measuring the millennial temple in Ezekiel 40. When things are measured in the Bible, it is thought of as God marking His territory that belongs to Him. Similar to when a piece of property is bought, the ground is surveyed and marked off. This is what is occurring here with the measuring rod.
The time of the measuring is parallel to the sealing and is measured for the area to be protected from the demons and the terrors that are to occur. In the 2nd chapter of Zechariah in the 4th verse, we see that God has delivered His people from the demons/enemies in the future, Zechariah's prophecy.
In the measuring John is instructed to leave out the court in the measurement. This is to be given to the Gentiles, if the gentiles went beyond the Courts, the penalty was death.
Note, Revelation was written about 90 a.d., the Temple was destroyed in 70 a.d. So, how could John have seen this? The picture John is seeing is not a building, it was demolished. The Temple which John is having the vision for is The Christian Church, the people who belong to God. See 1 Peter 2:5 where we are stoned of a spiritual house, see Eph 2:20 and 21, 1 Cor 3:16 and 2 Cor 6:16. The measuring of Gods people is to preserve them from the terror and the trials yet to come.
Verse 2:
The length of the terror and the trials are to be forty-two months.
The time of the witnesses preaching is 1262 days.
The witnesses dead bodies are to lie on the street for three and a half days.
1917 Jerusalem was delivered from Turkish domination which lasted for 1260 years of a very bad period of Jewish history. General Allenby received victory over the Turkish Army which started the restoration of Israel to the land. However, the land is still in control by the Gentiles, and will remain that way until the Lord returns.
