Revelation 6: 9-11

Rev 6: 9 When the lamb opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slaughtered because of God's word and the testimony they had given about him. 10 They cried out in a loud voice, "Holy and true Master, how long before you judge and take revenge on those living on earth who shed our blood?"  11 Each of the souls was given a white robe. They were told to rest a little longer until all their coworkers, the other Christians, would be killed as they had been killed.GWT)

On the opening of the fifth seal, there is mentioned, the altar.  According to special regulations (Leviticus 4:7) the base of the altar was the place where where the sacrificial blood would be poured. The blood is offered at the foot of the altar for a burnt offering.  Because the blood is regarded to be the life and the life belonged to God (Lev 17:11-14), it was considered the most sacred part of the sacrifice and had special regulations.

Now, notice there are martyred souls under the altar.  These are those followers who have died for their faith.  Their blood was poured out for our Heavenly Father.  A life given for God is an offering to God, and the death is ultimately more than the tragedy or evil that took that life.

The souls are crying, and crying out for God to take revenge.  They want to know "how long?".  Turn to Psalm 79:5-10 David asks why is God waiting and being angry, just devour them that ask, "Where is your God?"  This question and the one the souls are asking is a matter of when, but there is no doubt that God is capable and that it will happen.

But, who are these souls?  The church has been taken and we said they were represented by the elders before the first seal was even broken.  If you read the 11th chapter of Romans, it asks what of the original chosen of God, (Rom 11:1) ".... "Has God rejected his people Israel?".  No, of coarse not. Romans 11: 8 as Scripture says, "To this day God has given them a spirit of deep sleep. Their eyes don't see, and their ears don't hear!"  Reading on we find that after the church as been taken, there will be a "blindness" lifted from the Israel people and they will know their sin of rejecting Jesus as Lord and Messiah.  Many will begin to call upon Christ for forgiveness and deliverance.  Remember though, the anti-christ is in power and the Satanic forces are everywhere!  I will be almost impossible to declare Christ in those days and martyrdom will run rampant.  These are believed to be the sacrificed souls at the bottom of the altar.  They are given a white robe and told they must wait.  The Messiah will not make his appearance until all those belonging to God were collected.

God loves us and wants us to be part of the group taken to His side way before this seal is ever broken. If you confess Jesus Christ as the son of the living God and ask God for his forgiveness and believe, you are well on your way.  If you have doubts, please contact someone who can help.  I can be reached through the e-mail address posted here.

Blessings on all!
